TradingView has a free Basic plan and four paid individual plans: Essential, Plus, Premium, and Ultimate. The best plan is not automatically the most expensive one. It is the lowest tier that supports the number of charts, indicators, alerts, historical bars, and data connections your workflow actually uses.

Basic: Best for Learning the Platform
Basic is the free plan. It currently includes one chart per tab, two indicators per chart, one saved layout, three active price alerts, and up to 5,000 historical bars. Simulated Paper Trading is also listed in TradingView’s plan comparison.
Basic is the right starting point for most new users. It is enough to learn symbol selection, chart types, drawing tools, watchlists, screeners, and simulated order placement. The main limitations are advertisements and relatively low chart, indicator, and alert limits.
Choose Basic if: you are still learning the interface, use one chart at a time, or have not yet identified a paid feature you need.
Essential: Best for a Clean Single-Screen Workflow
Essential currently increases the limit to two charts per tab, five indicators per chart, 10,000 historical bars, 20 price alerts, and 20 technical alerts. It also removes chart and social-network advertisements and adds paid-plan features such as custom timeframes, multiple watchlists, volume profile, and Bar Replay access.
Essential makes sense when Basic is already useful but advertisements or the two-indicator limit disrupt a simple workflow. It is not automatically the best value for someone who needs many alerts or four simultaneous charts; Plus is designed for that next step.
Choose Essential if: you want an ad-free workspace and modestly higher limits without building a multi-chart setup.
Plus: Best for Active Multi-Chart Analysis
Plus currently supports four charts per tab, ten indicators per chart, 10,000 historical bars, 100 price alerts, and 100 technical alerts. It also increases simultaneous chart connections and several watchlist and workflow limits.
For many active individual users, Plus is the practical middle tier. Four charts can support multi-timeframe analysis or comparison between related markets without moving to the much higher Premium limits.
Choose Plus if: you regularly compare several charts, use more than five indicators in a layout, or need substantially more active alerts.
Premium: Best for Alert-Heavy and Multi-Screen Workflows
Premium currently supports eight charts per tab, 25 indicators per chart, 20,000 historical bars, 400 price alerts, 400 technical alerts, and two active watchlist alerts. It also increases simultaneous chart connections and includes higher limits across backtesting, portfolios, and other tools.
Premium is useful when alerts and workspace limits have become operational constraints rather than occasional inconveniences. It is excessive for a beginner who still uses one chart and a few indicators.
Choose Premium if: you maintain several layouts, monitor many conditions, or need more historical depth and charts than Plus provides.
Ultimate: Highest Limits and Professional Use
Ultimate currently supports 16 charts per tab, 50 indicators per chart, 40,000 historical bars, 1,000 price alerts, 1,000 technical alerts, and 15 watchlist alerts. It also has the highest simultaneous connection and advanced data-analysis limits in the individual plan table.
TradingView states that Ultimate is the only plan available for professional users. Professional exchange status and professional market-data fees are separate considerations from the subscription itself.
Choose Ultimate if: you can explain exactly why the Premium limits are insufficient, or your professional status requires the applicable plan.
Market Data, Tax, and Other Costs
A TradingView subscription and an exchange data subscription are not the same purchase. Depending on the market, delayed data may be available without an extra exchange package, while official real-time data can require a separate monthly fee. Professional users can face different exchange pricing.
Before paying, check:
- Whether your required exchange data is real time, delayed, or sold separately.
- Whether you are classified as a non-professional or professional data subscriber.
- Whether local sales tax or VAT is added at checkout.
- Whether the displayed price is monthly billing or an annual price shown as a monthly equivalent.
- Whether a promotion changes the first billing period but not later renewals.
Monthly vs Annual Billing
TradingView’s pricing page offers monthly and annual billing, and the annual option commonly shows a lower effective monthly price. Annual billing reduces flexibility because the larger charge is paid for the full period. Compare the total amount due today, not only the monthly equivalent displayed on the plan card.
A sensible approach is to use Basic until a limit becomes clear, then use an available trial to test the required paid features before committing to a longer billing period. Trial availability and duration can vary by plan and promotion.

Do not choose a plan from a feature list alone. Open your normal charting workflow on Basic and write down the first limit that blocks you. The relevant upgrade is the lowest plan that removes that specific constraint.
